CHESS DURESS

Terms of Use

Last updated October 21, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and John Kime, Texas, United States (“we”), the maker of Chess Duress. They apply to the game on every platform and to this website. By playing the game you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not play.

1. Using the game

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to play Chess Duress for your own non-commercial enjoyment on devices you own or control. You may not copy, sell, rent or redistribute the game, reverse engineer it except where the law allows, or use cheats, bots or modified versions to interfere with how it works.

If you downloaded the game from the App Store, Google Play, Steam or itch.io, that store's own terms also apply. Apple, Google, Valve and itch.io are not parties to these terms and are not responsible for the game.

2. Age

The game is rated for all ages and is made for a general audience rather than specifically for children. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.

3. Your progress

Your progress is saved only on your device. We cannot restore progress that is lost when the game is deleted or a device is lost or reset.

4. Changes and availability

We may update, change or stop offering the game or any part of it, including levels, daily puzzles and features. We try to keep the game working on current devices but cannot promise it will always be available or free of bugs.

5. Ownership

The game, its levels, art, music, code and name belong to us or our licensors. These terms do not give you any rights in them other than the licence to play. Third-party software in the game is used under its own licences.

6. Ending these terms

You can stop at any time by deleting the game. We may end your licence if you break these terms. Sections 5, 7 and 8 continue after these terms end.

7. Our responsibility to you

The game is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises about it beyond those in these terms and are not liable for indirect or unforeseeable loss, or for loss of data or progress. If we are liable to you, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the game, if anything, in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away your rights as a consumer where you live.

8. Disputes and governing law

If you have a problem, please write to us first; most things can be fixed by email. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, and disputes go to its courts, unless the law of the country where you live gives you the right to use your local courts and laws instead.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The new version will be posted here with a new date. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the game. Continuing to play after a change means you accept it.

10. Privacy

How data is handled is described in our Privacy Policy.
